Opening the door to stronger educational opportunities
The English Crossover Program helps children from underserved families move from vernacular-medium schools into English-medium education — with support for admission fees, monthly fees, books and uniforms along the way.
Where the programme stands
A single classroom decision can shape a career
Across Kolkata, many capable children begin school in the vernacular medium — a fully valid start to education. But as students grow older, limited access to English-language instruction can quietly narrow the doors open to them later: in higher education, competitive examinations and many professional fields where English fluency is expected.
The English Crossover Program exists to widen those doors early — identifying promising students and supporting their move into English-medium schooling, alongside the families who make that transition possible.
